THE campsite NAME “CAMPER PARK ARIS” refers TO THE OLD-Prussian NAME OF the ORZYSZ LAKE (ARIS).
LOCATION OF THE CAMPING
The campsite is located in the immediate vicinity of the lake and allows guests to spend time attractively in contact with nature. Orzysz Lake covers an area of 1070.7 ha. It is characterized by a developed coastline, generally forested. Diversified depth (average 6.6m, maximum 36m), the islands create an attractive space for trips, sailing and fishing. The lake has 10 islands with a total area of 73.8 ha, incl. Island of Roses, Wysokie Ostrów, Lasek Czykietówka, Island of Love. In the years 1861-1867, large scale drainage works were carried out near Orzysz (among others, the Orzysz canal was dug), as a result of which the level of the lake decreased by 2.3 m. It allowed then to obtain over 40 ha of land for agricultural crops. A side effect of drainage works was the discovery of the relics of the Galindians surface settlement on the lake. Information about the settlement can be found in the Museum of Military, Army and the Orzysz Region in Orzysz. The lake offers excellent conditions for fishing. It is a lake with a vendace type, 2nd class of purity. The Lessee The Polish Angling Association does not lead commercial catches on the lake except eel and vendace. Thanks to this, anglers can increasingly count on fishing pike up to 1m in length. Polish fishing spinning championships organized for three years on the Orzysz lake confirm the attractiveness of the lake’s angling. The following species of fish can be find here: vendace, bream, tench, perch, pike, zander. At the campsite you can buy a fishing permit for the waters of the Polish Angling Association, rent a fishing boat, or moor your own boat at the campsite’s marina. Guests interested in other forms of recreation have at their disposal a public city beach with a guarded bathing beach, water equipment rental with kayaks, pedal boats, fishing and recreational boats.
